World-class underwater exploration on Asia’s premier diving route — reaching legendary sites that land-based operations simply cannot.
The Lombok–Komodo corridor is among Asia’s most spectacular dive destinations, and a liveaboard is the only way to reach its best sites. Operating year-round and peaking April–October, these cruises combine 2–4 daily dives, professional dive masters and crew-managed logistics.
The route delivers direct access to legendary sites: Batu Bolong (15–40m, advanced) with barracuda, trevally and reef sharks; The Cauldron (20–40m, advanced) at a current convergence; Castle Rock (12–30m, intermediate) with hard corals and eagle rays; and the crown jewel, Manta Point (5–25m), with consistent giant manta sightings.
Gentler options like Pink Beach Reef (6–20m) and the variable Rinca Strait round out the range, so divers of mixed experience levels can all find suitable sites.
A valid Open Water certification (PADI, NAUI, SSI or equivalent) is required, with cards and logbooks checked at boarding. Uncertified guests can complete Open Water during the cruise (2–3 extra days, $400–600).
Advanced Open Water is strongly recommended for deeper sites, and Nitrox certification extends bottom times. Divers with 50+ logged dives need minimal supervision at premium sites; those under 20 dives start on beginner-friendly sites with guidance ($20–40/dive).
A typical day runs a pre-sunrise dive (0530–0700), mid-morning (0900–1030), afternoon (1400–1530) and an optional sunset or night dive (1800–1930). Bottom times average 45–55 minutes with 10–15 minute surface intervals.
Safety standards include 1:6 dive-master ratios on advanced dives, 1:8 on intermediate and beginner dives, hyperbaric oxygen and AED units on board, and direct radio contact with Labuan Bajo medical facilities.
Expect pelagic schools of giant trevally, barracuda, jacks and fusiliers; manta rays often in groups of 3–10 with 7-metre wingspans during peak season; and reef sharks including whitetip, blacktip and the occasional hammerhead.
Macro divers will find nudibranchs, seahorses and frogfish, while whale sharks pass through seasonally from December to March.
April to October offers the best diving, with typical visibility of 25–40m and July–September the peak months. November–March brings reduced visibility (15–25m) and occasional closures in January–February.
Peak-season manta sightings exceed an 85% success rate over multi-dive visits; premium operators offer a return-voyage discount if no manta is seen during your cruise.
Daily rates for premium operators include accommodation, meals, dive masters, air and park fees. Last-minute discounts of 15–25% may be available 1–2 weeks prior.
