Is the Komodo dragon trek safe for children?
Yes, when supervised by adults and licensed park rangers. Rangers carry forked sticks for safety and maintain a minimum distance from the dragons at all times. Children must stay within the group and follow ranger instructions. The trek itself is a gentle 1-2 km walk on flat terrain. Most children aged 6+ handle it easily and find the experience thrilling rather than frightening — the dragons are typically resting in shade and observed from a safe distance of 5-10 meters.
Do children get seasick easily on this route?
The Lombok to Komodo route is generally calm, especially during peak season (April–October). The most open water crossing is the Sape Strait (about 4-6 hours), which can have moderate swells. We recommend children’s motion sickness medication (available over the counter) as a precaution, and our crew positions the boat in sheltered anchorages overnight. Most families report their children adapted quickly after the first few hours on board.
Can my children snorkel if they cannot swim?
